Three distinctive personalities bring experience, humour and honest perspectives to the much-loved METRO FM relationship feature, premiering Monday, 2 November 2026, at 7PM on S3 and simulcasting on the streaming platform SABC Plus.
South Africa — The questions have been asked. The stories have been shared. And now, “Ask A Man” is ready to meet South Africa on television.
Following the announcement that METRO FM’s iconic “Ask A Man” feature is making the move to television, S3 has revealed the personalities who will bring these real-life relationship conversations to the screen:
- Somizi Mhlongo
- Quinton “Naked DJ” Masina
- Vafa Naraghi
For years, “Ask A Man” has given South Africans a space to unpack the complexities of relationships, dating, heartbreak, marriage, family dynamics and everything in between.
Now, as the format expands to television, three distinctive personalities will bring their own experiences, perspectives and approaches to conversations inspired by the real stories of South Africans.
With careers spanning television, radio, music, comedy and live entertainment, the trio bring a mix of experience, humour and cultural insight to a format built around honest conversations and relatable experiences.
Somizi Mhlongo is one of South Africa’s most recognisable entertainment personalities, with a career spanning choreography, acting, singing, radio and television. He began his acting career at the age of 13, appearing in the 1987 film Scavengers, before gaining wider prominence through the 1992 musical and political film Sarafina! His experience and unmistakable personality bring another dimension to the conversations that “Ask A Man” is known for.
Quinton “Naked DJ” Masina brings a particularly significant connection to the television adaptation, having been part of the “Ask A Man” journey on METRO FM for years. One of Africa’s leading DJs, Naked co-hosts on the commercial radio station, where the feature has built a loyal following over the past decade. Beyond radio, he is an accomplished music producer who has shared stages with international music icons, including Beyoncé, Drake, Mary J. Blige, and DJ Jazzy Jeff, as well as South African star Black Coffee. He also hosts his own shows, “Audiogasm” and “Saturday Sunsets”. His long-standing association with the feature brings continuity as “Ask A Man” moves from radio to television.
Vafa Naraghi brings a fresh perspective shaped by comedy, cultural diversity, and his ability to find humour in everyday South African experiences. Raised in Mahikeng by Persian parents, Vafa grew up navigating the country’s multicultural landscape and became fluent in several South African languages, including Setswana, isiXhosa, and Afrikaans. He initially pursued a career in engineering, earning a Civil Engineering degree from the University of Cape Town and a master’s degree in Structural Engineering, before making the bold decision to follow his passion for comedy. Since then, he has earned two SA Comics Choice Awards and received seven additional nominations across 2023 and 2024. With a strong digital following and a storytelling style rooted in relatability and observation, Vafa uses humour to connect people across different backgrounds and encourage conversations about shared experiences.
Together, the three hosts bring different personalities and perspectives to a format built around one simple idea: sometimes, the best way to understand what we are going through is to talk about it.
The television adaptation will retain the spirit that made “Ask A Man” a popular feature on METRO FM, bringing honest questions and relatable experiences to the screen while creating opportunities for deeper conversations around the realities of modern relationships.
“Ask A Man has become part of South Africa’s everyday conversations, giving people a platform to share experiences, challenge perspectives and navigate the complexities of relationships. Bringing this established and much-loved format to S3 is about building on that connection and giving these conversations a new dimension through television. With three distinctive personalities bringing their own perspectives, humour and lived experiences, we are creating a space that is entertaining, relatable and unmistakably South African. This is the kind of relevant, locally resonant programming we want audiences to experience on S3,” says Dichaba Phalatse, Marketing Manager: Video Entertainment, SABC.
The television adaptation will explore the relationship questions and real-life experiences that have made “Ask A Man” a trusted platform for South Africans. From dating dilemmas and situationships to heartbreak, marriage, family expectations and the questions people are often too afraid to ask out loud, the show will bring these conversations into the living rooms of audiences across the country.
Selected stories will be unpacked through candid discussions, perspectives from the hosts and expert insights designed to inform, empower, and spark meaningful conversation. To protect contributors, all featured stories will remain anonymous.
“For years, METRO FM has held space for honest conversations about dating, heartbreak, marriage and family. “Ask A Man” became more than a feature — it became a trust relationship with our audience. As it evolves into a television format on S3, we are giving South Africans a platform to share their stories anonymously and gain perspective,” says Siyanda Fikelephi, Acting Business Manager, METRO FM.
With three distinctive personalities at the helm, “Ask A Man” is set to bring South Africans the conversations they love, the questions they relate to and perhaps a few answers they never expected.
Catch “Ask A Man” every Monday at 7PM, from the 2nd of November 2026, on S3 and simulcasting on SABC Plus.
