MY DESIGN RULES DUOS BATTLE FOR THE GRAND PRIZE

Johannesburg – Friday, 5 December 2025 –As the competition heats up in Season 2 of My Design Rules, the duos continue to push their creativity and resilience as they battle for the grand prize of R600 000, proudly sponsored by Capitec Bank.

On Monday, 8 December 2025, the duos take on the entrance hall — a pivotal space that defines the home’s first impression. From the staircase to the wine cellar beneath it, and even the powder room, every detail matters. One misstep could disrupt the entire flow of the home. With the Grand Finale drawing closer, the pressure is higher than ever.

Then on Monday, 15 December, the challenge moves outdoors as the duos transform the garden and patio. With outdoor living in the spotlight, they must craft inviting, functional spaces that seamlessly extend the beauty of their interiors. It’s one of their most demanding tasks yet, and the final space to complete before the grand showdown, their most demanding tasks yet, and the final space to complete before the grand showdown.

In the season finale on 22 December, the homes are complete, the designs are revealed, and the judges, estate agents, and viewers at home will determine who claims the title and up to R600 000 in cash. After weeks of passion, pressure, and bold design choices, it all comes down to this moment.

My Design Rules is hosted by Ryle De Morny, with judging by Woolworths Home’s Head Buyer: Trend & Design, Shekinah Rose, and Project & Construction Manager, CJ Stander.

This is what the duos had to say: –

House Signature Chardonnay

Nshalati Beulah Hlatshwayo – “The end is in sight and so are the prizes! It’s been a high pressure 3 months, I’m grateful for the experience that’s been with all its ups and downs and grateful to have been able to share my views on design with the country. The viewers’ love has been absolutely incredible and the support from this production pretty much second to none.”

Mufhenyi “Fefe” Yvonne Mashamba – “Being a contestant on Season 2 of My Design Rules has been an incredible journey, and I’m so grateful for the experience. The competition has been fierce, and I’ve faced my fair share of challenges, but my passion and dedication have certainly kept me going. Signature Chardonnay has clearly been a hit, and I’m thrilled to have won a few challenges – it’s definitely kept my morale high! I’m feeling hopeful and excited about the upcoming challenges and am giving it my all to maintain to win the viewers’ favourite prize of R100,000. If I still have any chance at winning the other prizes, I’ll certainly be over the moon!”

House Signature Shiraz

Zanelle Basson – “Being part of My Design Rules was an unforgettable milestone in my design journey. The experience pushed my creativity, challenged my thinking, and allowed me to grow in ways I didn’t expect. Working under pressure, sharing my vision, and seeing ideas come to life on screen reminded me why I love design so deeply. It was more than a competition—it was a chance to learn, collaborate, and showcase my passion on a platform that celebrates creativity. I walked away inspired, grateful, and proud of the designer I’m becoming.”

Lee Jordan Jacobs– “Being part of My Design Rules has been one of the most intense, exciting, and rewarding experiences of my career. The combination of designing under pressure while filming every moment truly pushes you out of your comfort zone. It’s challenging in ways you don’t expect, from tight deadlines to on-the-spot decisions and changes, the process becomes a real roller coaster of emotions. But with every challenge comes growth. Working on each space while navigating the demands of production has taught me so much about resilience, creativity, and trusting my instincts. It’s been a journey filled with learning, unforgettable moments, and immense personal and professional development and challenges. I’m truly grateful for the opportunity and the experience.”

House Signature Chenin

Ronelle Scholtz – “As we near the end of My Design Rules, it’s been an incredible journey for us. We’re extremely grateful for the opportunity to grow, learn, and push ourselves creatively. This experience has truly shaped us, and we’re excited to see what the future holds beyond the competition.”

Tiaan Jacobs – “It’s hard to believe that we are getting close to the end now. The journey has been like a good hike. Some struggles but worth it at the end. Very proud of our achievements and how much we have grown as designers. Truly a memorable challenge that will continue to shape my designs and design perspective for years to come.”
