February is widely regarded as the month of love, and SABC 3 is celebrating all things love and marriage with the start of a brand new four-part documentary series, Celebrated Love, starting on 11 February 2018 at 19:30.

Celebrated Love is produced by Doreen Morris and Sandra Kriek of Blue Zone Media in Johannesburg, and explores the beautiful love stories of four prominent South-African couples, whose marriages have stood the test of time proving that love can still flourish in contemporary times.

Given the upward trend in the divorce trajectory, Celebrated Love explores how relationships can survive and even thrive through the highs and lows of long-term commitment through the marriages of Sonia and Matthew Booth (the ex-Bidvest Wits soccer star and his author-and-radio host wife), Heinz and Alettè-Johanni Winckler (the talented singer/songwriter and his entrepreneur wife), theatre and television royalty Des and Dawn Lindberg and the radio- and television personalities, Thabo “T-bose” and Mapaseka Mokwele. Even though each of our couples' has a unique story, there is a shared philosophy that keeps their relationships alive.

“This unique glimpse into their personal lives and intimate emotional spaces becomes a masterclass in marriage” said Kriek.

Morris remarks: “No topic was off limits, there was no aspect that they were not willing to probe, which speaks to the mutual respect, honesty and the communication skills that they have developed over time”.

Using the traditional marriage vows to guide the narrative arc, the show investigates how each couple has managed to keep their promises to each other alive. Their love stories are told first hand and by those closest to them, ensuring a documentary series that is heart-felt, authentic and deeply personal.
