Bringing you new content and new seasons this August on SABC3

What better way to chill out and keep warm than to stay entertained and intrigued than with SABC 3. This winter SABC 3 will keep you glued to your screens with a blazing line up by bringing you the best in local and international shows.

This July and August viewers will be treated to some local documentaries including the local personality driven talk show Vision Lounge. September is a Royal Month on SABC 3 as we bring you an amazing selection of documentaries of the Royal Family starting with Charles and Diana – The First Decade, William, Kate And George – A New Royal Family and finally Harry And Meghan: A Modern Love Story.

On the international front this July are brand new shows which include the historical fiction drama series Knightfall and the American comedy sitcom Mr Robinson.

SABC 3 will continue with its Sunday Natural offerings. In August viewers will get to follow internationally acclaimed environmental journalist and safari operator, Ian Michler in Blood Lions and in September we see the start of a new season of Blue Planet 2.

This August SABC 3 will once again be bringing you the best in foreign reality, game shows and comedy shows with all-time favourite Survivor 31, basics of business in The Profit, The Mindy Project a romantic comedy about a young Ob/Gyn doctor who balances her personal and professional life surrounded by quirky co-workers in a small office, a comedy game show Funny You Should Ask, a new season of the world’s biggest motoring show Top Gear 24 and the fast-paced drama-filled reality show Married to Medicine. On the local side there is the reality marriage coaching show with Saving Our Marriage and viewers are in for a treat with the magazine show where they can watch their favourite celebrities wining and dining at the city’s most elite, exclusive and stunning spots in @The Table.   

SABC 3’s new riveting local drama The Docket takes to our screens in August. This series follows the Ravens an elite crime fighting unit, formed to fight crime under the media spotlight. In front of the camera, they have to win back the trust of the South African public. Behind the camera, they have to win each other's trust.

In September Win A Home is back for a 5th Season and the Golden Globe® comedy crime award-winning series Brooklyn Nine-Nine returns to SABC 3 for a second side-splitting season.

Visionaries Lounge is a three dimensional presentation of the subject’s life moving the viewer from just knowing the subject to celebrating the subject. A personality Driven talk show.

CHARLES AND DIANA – THE FIRST DECADE (2 September 2018 Sunday at 19:30 – 20:30)



The story of the world's most famous royal couple through Charles as the doting suitor and Diana as the fairytale princess in her bridal gown. But what role did Diana and the media play in creating that image and how did that relationship backfire?


WILLIAM, KATE AND GEORGE – A NEW ROYAL FAMILY (09 September 2018 Sunday at 19:30 – 20:30)



With their first official Royal Tour as a family this April and celebrating their first three years as husband and wife on April 29th, William, Kate & George: A New Royal Family, is a new programme showing the remarkable life William and Kate have built together.  An inspiring portrait of two special young people and their young family, who are destined to become King & Queen of England.


HARRY AND MEGHAN: A MODERN LOVE STORY (16 September 2018 Sunday at 19:30 – 20:30)



It's the wedding the whole world wants to be invited to, from members of the British aristocracy to the USA's leading movie stars and politicians. This documentary from BBC Studios, illustrated with rich archive and select interviews with those in the know, will set the scene for this extraordinary occasion. We will reveal the couple's different backgrounds, the struggles they have both overcome to assert their identities and the sheer luck that brought Harry and Meghan together.




KNIGHTFALL (26 July 2018 Thursdays at 21:30 – 22:30)



Knightfall chronicles the mysterious but true accounts of the Knights Templar, the elite warriors of the Crusades. Unsigned artists from every music genre compete for the chance to record a brand new song and launch themselves to the world.




MARRIED TO MEDICINE ATLANTA 1  (5 August  2018 Sundays at 13:00 – 14:00)



A reality show about socialite women in Atlanta. The difference with this show is that all of the women featured are either doctors themselves or the wives of doctors. Cameras follow the ladies as they try to juggle their careers with family lives and their social calendars. The cast of Georgia peaches includes busy mom Toya, feisty Quad, and a couple of OB-GYNs, Jacqueline and Simone

How I Made My Millions goes behind the curtain to reveal how everyday people have taken ordinary ideas and turned them in extraordinary businesses. Each of these entrepreneurs took a risk, believed in their dream and, thanks to a lot of hard work and a little luck, became millionaires.




THE MINDY PROJECT 1: (10 August  2018 Fridays at 19:30 - 20:00)


There once was a girl who was in love with love - and hopeless at finding it. Emmy-nominee Mindy Kaling (The Office) creates this dreamy comedy and stars as a thirty-something doctor whose entire outlook on relationships has been formed by her lifelong obsession with romantic comedies.


MR ROBINSON 1: (22 July 2018 Sundays at 18:02 - 18:30)

As lead singer of a rock band, Craig (Craig Robinson, The Office) knows all about working the crowd. But his day job as a substitute music teacher is where he really makes the grade. One night while playing a gig, Craig spots his high school sweetheart Victoria (guest star Meagan Good). Filled with regret from the time he stood her up at prom, he sets out to win her back. And it just so happens she’s taken a job teaching English at their old high school. BROOKLYN NINE NINE 2: (2 September 2018 Sundays at 18:00 - 18:30)


Jake returns to the precinct after going undercover to help take down the mafia, but is discouraged when one mobster manages to escape. He then begins a relationship with defense lawyer Sophia Perez, which ends based on their professions. Holt begins a battle of wits with Deputy Commissioner Madelyn Wuntch that culminates in Wuntch making Holt the head of the NYPD Public Affairs Division. Charles and Gina's affair is exposed, after which Charles' dad and Gina's mom get married. Rosa begins a relationship with Holt's nephew Marcus. A relationship blossoms between Jake and Amy during an undercover mission



FUNNY YOU SHOULD ASK: (10 August  2018 Fridays at 20:00 - 21:00)

Funny You Should Ask is an American television series. Hosted by Lloyd Thaxton, it was a comedy game show featuring celebrities.




TOP GEAR 24 (28 August 2018 Tuesdays at 20:30 - 21:00)


Matt LeBlanc, Chris Harris and Rory Reid – all fan favourites in the shows relaunch series – make up the core cast in this action-packed new series. Joining them are Sabine Schmitz, Eddie Jordan and, of course, The Stig. Expect Top Gear’s trademark challenges, stunts, celebrity guests and exotic locations. And watch out for surprises too, as the team has some exciting developments in store.
