SABC will not broadcast Cricket NZ outbound tour

New Zealand outbound tour will not be broadcast by the SABC

the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) has announced that it will not broadcast the South Africa- New Zealand outbound tour starting on Friday the 17th of February 2017 due to parties not reaching a contractual agreement. The cricket tour consists of 1 T20, 5 ODI’s and 3 test matches.

The SABC sighted the rights holder as the contributing factor for the Broadcaster not to cover this tour to New Zealand as negotiations deadlock.  Sport rights have become costly with many rights holders demanding a 100% increase on rights fees which the Public Service Broadcaster cannot afford.

The SABC will, however continue to engage and negotiate for better deal and rights to broadcast other tournaments in the near future for the benefit of the South African Public.
